Super Bowl Sexy
One of our fave things about football is obviously those cute tight ends on display in their unforgiving spandex uniforms! But we all know those men work hard for their buns of steel by running endless drills and hitting the gym to pump monumental amounts of iron. While we don’t recommend hours upon hours of strenuous work to get your rear in gear for spandex, here are a few football-inspired drills that will help get you there.
Do this quick but intense Tabata-style workout every other day to give those men a run for their money on Super Bowl Sunday. Make sure you warm up your muscles before you start to prevent injury and cool down when you’re done (if you can catch your breath).
Workout Overview: 8 minutes long; 20 seconds of intense training at full exertion and 10 seconds of rest each round. Total of 16 sessions or rounds. Repeat circuit twice.
Quick feet: Stand with your legs a little wider than hips width apart and run in place as if you were LiLo being chased by the paps.
Push ups: Get your hands down on the ground and lower your chest until you’re an inch or two above the ground. Go onto your knees if you need a modification.
High knees: Bring your knees a little higher than your hips and run in place. Try not to lean back so you don’t strain your lower back. Keep a fast pace and don’t forget to breathe.
Squats: Quickly sit back as if you were sitting in a chair and stand back up again. Don’t let your knees go over your toes and don’t hyperextend your knees when you stand up. Buns of steel, baby!
Burpees: Put your hands on the ground and jump your legs back. Do a push up, jump your legs forward, stand up, jump, and clap your hands over your head. It’s a doozy.
Heisman move: Jump side to side while raising your knees, bracing your abs, and crunching over the knee that’s up.
Situps: Lay down and crunch up just far enough that you feel your abs engage. Move quickly but don’t lose your form.
