There Will Be Grub
There are three things we Chicagoans look forward to during the winter:
1. The end of winter
2. St. Patrick’s Day
3. Eating food. A lot of it. Preferably at new restaurants.
While we can’t hurry spring along (though this weekend is a nice tease), and we can’t dye the river green just yet, we are well-versed in the food department. And it just so happens that everyone’s favorite week is quickly approaching and stomachs are starting to rumble across the city. That’s right…it’s time for Chicago Restaurant Week.
From Feb. 1-10, some of our very favorite restaurants around the city will offer special three-course menus at lunch and dinner. Having a mild panic attack about all of the butter, cheese, and truffle oil that you’ll be tempted with? Not to worry! We’ve rounded up a few menus that will tickle your taste buds without ruining your New Year’s resolutions:
52 W. Illinois St.
OK, so maybe we’re a little biased, but Giuliana’s downtown restaurant is seriously tasty. And the sea scallops with roasted cauliflower and lemon featured on the prix fixe menu won’t give you that sleepy, Italian food hangover.
123 N. Jefferson St.
Sepia is known for its use of local produce, and their Restaurant Week menu is a delicious blend of in-season ingredients. We’re going for the pan fried whitefish with chiogga beets. Light + local = love.
1400 W. Randolph St.
Once you try lunch at Belly Q, you might never eat your midday meal anywhere else. Their prix fixe menu features lemongrass salmon with red quinoa and braised spinach. And, please, make room in your diet for one of their Vietnamese doughnuts. Yum!
